'Human-grade' is defined by AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials) as ingredients that are edible and handled, processed, and stored in USDA-inspected facilities under the same conditions required for human food. Unlike 'feed-grade' ingredients — which may include rendered byproducts, diseased tissue, or contaminants permissible in animal feed — human-grade treats must meet federal standards for human consumption at every stage of production.
